Esquire features in Locate in Kent
New employment space, a nursery and nearly 100 new homes at Cliffe Woods, designed for Esquire Developments by Clague Architects, has secured unanimous planning permission from Medway Council.
The proposal was carefully developed to comply with planning policy and to be sensitive to its setting and reflecting the community of Cliffe Woods. The 92 homes are a mixture of different sizes and tenures with 69 for private sale, including nine bungalows, and the remaining 23 earmarked as affordable housing.
The scheme was brought forward by Esquire Developments, the award-winning developer delivering bespoke luxury homes throughout Kent and the South East of England, based in Longfield, near Dartford.
Paul Henry, Managing Director of Esquire Developments, said: “Good quality office space is in high demand in the area and we have already had strong interest from potential occupiers in the four barn-style commercial offices which are perfect for small office-based businesses and local employers.
“Having worked closely with the local community, including holding a public exhibition in the village, it was clear that there were some strong preferences from local people when bringing forward development in Cliffe Woods, focusing on delivery high quality designed and built homes.
“We listened to the community and will be providing much-needed nursery spaces to support local young families, along with well thought out bungalows meeting the local need.”
In response to comments over pedestrian safety Esquire incorporated a puffin crossing on Town Road to help children and adults cross the road safely to the Merryboys Road Recreation Ground.”
The site to the west of Town Road, has been designed to sit well within its setting following a study of local architectural character by Clague, with particular attention paid to defining architectural styles and materials.
Tim Wolfe-Murray, Partner of Clague Architects, who designed the scheme, added: “The sympathetic and sensitive design of new places is the driving force behind all of our work, and this is true of our proposals for the development at Cliffe Woods which have a focus on understanding and complementing local vernacular architecture.
“Esquire Developments, and ourselves, recognised the importance of the proposals being of the highest quality in both approach and delivery, and we both have a proven track-record of delivering architecturally sensitive developments in characterful locations such as Cliffe Woods.”
The designs reflect the architectural character in the area surrounding Cliffe Woods, as well as being suitable in the context of contemporary living patterns and modern habitable standards.
